Meet Your Hosts

Meet Jeremy, Dan, and Aaron!

Jeremy, Dan, and Aaron

Jeremy Cottingham

EXEC DIR OF ABSURD PROCEDURES

Jeremy has loved games since childhood. After conquering Life and a year long winning streak on Scattergories, Jeremy felt unfulfilled in the gaming arena. Then, in high school, he was introduced to hobbyist gaming when he discovered Risk.

Now, as EDoAP for KennyCon, Jeremy lends experience gathered from decades of conference attendance. A life-long gamer, his job is to make sure that KennyCon is the best con it can be.

Dan Perritte

CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Born in Germany, Dan grew up playing such games as “Wirf mir eine Schnitzel zu!” (Throw Me a Schnitzel) and “Brezel Tycoon” (Pretzel Tycoon). He immigrated to the states at a young age, and, as an adult, discovered he had a passion for hobbyist board games.

When it’s time to bring the fun, and to crank up the volume, our Chief Communications Officer (or Chief of Maximum Volume, as he is sometimes referred) always steps up. His enthusiasm and support make KennyCon happen.

Aaron Butler

CHIEF OPTIMISM OFFICER

A native of Texas, Aaron does believe that bigger is better. After founding Megagame Day and later KennyCon, he continues to dream bigger every year.

Aaron has never met a stranger... or at least no one stranger than him... and believes that the world would be a better place if more people sat across from each other and gamed. His optimism and determination ensure that the convention grows, improves, and keeps the fun alive for everyone who attends.

How it Started

Almost 10 years ago, two friends, Dan and Aaron, decided to pull together a few people and have a board game night. This grew into a monthly board game night, with an attendance of more than 20 people not unheard of.

Then, in 2017, Aaron thought, “We should have a board game DAY, instead of just a board game night.” He scheduled it from noon to midnight, and Megagame Day was created. A couple of dozen board gamers came together and had a great day.

The following year, Megagame Day was rebranded as KennyCon 2018, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Now, post-pandemic, KennyCon has been resurrected. Aaron talked to Jeremy, a close friend and veteran of many cons, looped in Dan, and pulled together an army of volunteers from the gaming group. As a result, KennyCon was relaunched in 2024… revamped, expanded, and better than ever.

Who is Kenny?

Now, you may be asking, “What’s with the name? KennyCon? Is that a South Park reference?” No. It is not.

You see, years before Dan and Aaron started hosting their monthly board game night, Aaron lived in Texas, and often played games with his friend Kenny. Kenny is an awesome guy. But like every hero in a story, he has a flaw… Kenny likes to talk (almost as much as Aaron).

So, they would be playing a game, and eventually it would be Kenny’s turn. Kenny would pick up the dice, start shaking them, and then start relating an anecdote or telling a story. This would inevitably lead to someone saying, “Quit shakin’ the dice, Kenny!” Kenny would comply, dice would roll, and the game would continue.

Years ago, Aaron related this story to his current gaming group. Out of that, it became tradition to refer to someone by the name Kenny if they were taking too long on their turn.

“Let’s go, Kenny!” — “Your turn, Kenny!” — Or even just… “Hey! Quit shaking the dice.”

It’s just a little bit of extra fun that gets a lot of mileage among the group. So honor the legend of Kenny, share in the fun of our “inside” joke, and keep those Kenny’s playing!
